What FamilyPay is

FamilyPay (“we”, “us”, “our”, “the Website”) is a free, browser-based household income estimation tool designed to help Australian families understand their approximate take-home pay, government benefit entitlements, and childcare costs based on publicly available Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and Services Australia rates for the 2025–26 financial year.

By accessing or using FamilyPay, you (“User”, “you”, “your”) agree to be bound by this Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

Important disclaimer — estimates only

FamilyPay provides estimates only. Results are not financial advice, tax advice, or legal advice.

The calculations produced by FamilyPay are approximations based on standard tax rates, typical eligibility rules, and publicly published government rates. They are intended to give you a useful ballpark figure to support your own planning. They are not:

  • A substitute for advice from a registered tax agent, accountant, or financial planner
  • A guarantee of the tax, benefits, or entitlements you will actually receive
  • A formal determination of your eligibility for government payments such as Family Tax Benefit or the Child Care Subsidy
  • A binding representation of any kind regarding your actual tax liability

Individual circumstances vary significantly — including employment type, award conditions, salary packaging arrangements, investment income, reportable fringe benefits, and deductions — and cannot all be captured by a general calculator. For your actual tax obligations, always consult the ATO directly or engage a registered tax professional.

Accuracy and rates

FamilyPay makes reasonable efforts to use current rates and thresholds as published by the ATO and Services Australia. However:

  • Rates, thresholds, and eligibility rules change regularly, particularly at the start of each financial year. There may be a period during which the calculator has not yet been updated to reflect the latest changes.
  • Some entitlements (such as Family Tax Benefit supplements and Child Care Subsidy percentages) involve complex income testing and activity tests that are approximated by FamilyPay.
  • Leave entitlement calculations are based on national minimum standards and typical state-based long service leave rules. Individual awards, enterprise agreements, or contracts may provide different entitlements.

The last-updated date shown on each calculator page indicates when the rates were last reviewed. Verify current rates on ato.gov.au and servicesaustralia.gov.au for official figures.

Acceptable uses

FamilyPay may be used for:

  • Personal household financial planning and budgeting
  • Understanding the approximate impact of employment changes (e.g. moving between jobs, changing hours, salary packaging)
  • Estimating entitlements to Family Tax Benefit, Child Care Subsidy, or long service leave as a starting point for further inquiry
  • Educational purposes — learning how Australian income tax, Medicare levy, HECS repayments, and family benefits interact
  • Sharing results with a financial planner or accountant as indicative figures to discuss further

Prohibited activities

You must not use FamilyPay to:

  • Rely on it as a substitute for professional advice — using FamilyPay results as a direct substitute for a formal tax return, registered tax agent advice, Centrelink assessment, or legal determination
  • Commercial resale or republication — reproducing, scraping, repackaging, or commercially distributing FamilyPay’s calculation outputs or intellectual property without our express written permission
  • Automated access — using bots, scrapers, or automated scripts to access or extract data from FamilyPay at scale
  • Mislead others — presenting FamilyPay estimates as official government determinations, certified tax assessments, or formal financial advice to third parties
  • Attempt to compromise the Website — including attempts to inject malicious code, conduct denial-of-service attacks, exploit vulnerabilities, or interfere with the Website’s operation
  • Infringe intellectual property — copying, reverse engineering, or reproducing FamilyPay’s software, design, or content in a way that infringes our intellectual property rights

Intellectual property

All content on FamilyPay — including the calculation engine, design, copy, and layout — is owned by or licensed to us. Tax rates and government benefit rules referenced in the calculator are sourced from public domain government publications and are not claimed as our intellectual property.

You may share links to FamilyPay and reference our estimates in your own personal or professional communications, provided you make clear that figures are approximate estimates from a third-party calculator and not official determinations.

No liability for outcomes

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, FamilyPay and its operators accept no liability for:

  • Financial decisions made in reliance on calculator estimates
  • Discrepancies between FamilyPay estimates and your actual tax assessment, benefit payment, or leave entitlement
  • Any loss or damage arising from your use of or inability to access the Website
  • Errors or inaccuracies in the calculated results, including those arising from outdated rates

Your use of FamilyPay is at your own risk. Where legislation implies warranties that cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service.
